Free & Easy Things You Can Do For Better Hair

  • Split ends should be trimmed to help keep the hair healthy and in top condition
  • Avoid Shampoos and Conditioners with Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, Cocamide DEA or Sodium Chloride (Salt)
  • After rinsing off conditioner use cool water (as cold as possible). This closes the cuticle and stimulates blood circulation to the scalp.
  • Brush your hair whenever possible. It encourages blood circulation.
  • Use natural Bristle Brushes – No Nylon Brushes
  • Do not brush wet hair; instead use a wide-tooth comb.
  • Teasing hair may be necessary to achieve certain looks, but it wreaks havoc on hair and should be done infrequently, if at all.
  • Protect hair from the sun as much as possible. 1. Keep hair covered with a hat and/or 2. use a leave-in conditioner with built in sun protection (SPF 15)
  • Wear swimming a cap (ocean and pool)
  • Avoid smoking or being around someone who smokes
  • Use a lower heat setting on blow dryers and don’t use to close to the scalp
  • Try to not use hot curlers and crimpers
  • Wear a properly fitting hat, not one that is too tight
  • Avoid chemical treatments including colors, perms, tints and bleaches
  • Do not use plain rubber bands to tie hair back. If this is twisted tightly around the hair it can cause damage to the delicate cuticle. Cotton would be a better choice

  • Eat good oils such as avocado and olive oils as well as flax seed oil
  • Do not overindulge in too much of carbohydrates such as dry cereals, cake and sugar
  • Try and avoid animal fats, such as red meat. High fat diets lead to a great DHT production and more damage to the hair follicles.
  • Avoid artificial sweeteners and diet sodas (high in calorie soft drinks)
  • Drink at least 8 glasses of filtered water daily. Water regulates body temperature, serves as a lubricant, aids digestion and helps eliminate toxic by-products.
  • Reduce sugar in your diet
  • Reduce Coffee and Tea
  • Reduce Candies and gums
  • Reduce fats and fatty, fried foods such as French fries
    Reduce alcohol intake
  • Reduce salt in your diet
  • Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Eat Yogurt everyday

  • Take a B-complex vitamin everyday to add shine and thickness
  • If you are pregnant then you need to take prenatal vitamins as well as extra folic acid. Check with your doctor

  • Create a daily exercise routine! Exercise increases blood circulation which is good for your scalp.
  • Massage your scalp as often as possible. It encourages the flow of nutrients to the scalp thus preventing hair from falling out prematurely.
